Urban Ranching in New Meadows (City Limits)

Permitted animals in residential zones:

  • Rabbits


Permitted animals in agricultural zones:

  • Cows
  • Goats
  • Horses
  • Rabbits
  • Sheep
  • Pigs
  • Poultry



As of November 1, 2020, all established urban ranches in New Meadows city limits must adhere to the Urban Ranching Ordinance and must have obtained permission from the City to keep urban ranching animals.  Visit our URBAN RANCHING CODE for more details.



Obtain an application from City Hall for your Urban Ranch.  Upon completion of your application, your urban ranch will be inspected, and if approved, certification will be given for your urban ranch.  The Urban Ranching Ordinance requires that you have:

· Limited number of animals

· An enclosure

· A run

· 6’ sight-obscuring fence

· Covering for run & enclosure

· Appropriate space for each animal—see code

       for specifications


You May Not Have:

· A petting zoo / roosters

· Animals or biproducts to sell

· Free range animals

· Circulating fans / feeding machines
